..and a nite out.

Over the weekend...Alun took me to watch the rugby team play in the nearby village.
Crazy rough.
Kinda love it.

Went to town for drinks later that nite.
Carmarthen opened a chic little wine bar, Diablos...we drank pints, prosecco, and had a kebab.
A good nite out!
Boys in the pic are Als good friends CG, and JM.

Tenby and Caldey Island.

On Monday ..the weather was beautiful. I woke early and took the bus to the train and went to Tenby. Tenby is about 40 miles from the Chalet. It is a really nice coastal town in West Wales.
I arrived and decided to take the ferry boat to Caldey Island, which is a really cool, quiet island owned by the monks of the Cistercian Oder. The monastery dominates the village.
There are tons of paths to walk and a chocolate factory where the fudge is made.
The monks are walking around ...they never leave the island...they wake up at 3:30am to begin prayer and chanting.

I admire their dedication, but I personally could never be a monk.
They eat in silence.

A view from the Chalet...

This is what you will see if you walk outside and look around...lots of green, lots of sheep ...it is beautiful.

Sunday Lunch...Cameo Club.

Over here, it is customary to have Sunday Lunch. I love Sunday Lunch.
Meat, veg, gravy...it's like Thanksgiving dinner every Sunday.

We checked out the very cool Cameo Club in Pontcanna.
The Cameo Club is a great little bar / bistro, in my fave neighborhood.
And the Sunday lunch was the best I've had in a restaurant, for sure.

The Cameo Club is a great spot to have drinks with friends, dinner with a date or even host a party in the party room.

Love love love...and will def be back x.

A fun nite out in Cardiff Bay.

Alun, K, R and I ...partying in Cardiff Bay.
A fun and very late nite!

Pontcanna, Cardiff

Spent the weekend in Cardiff with Als good childhood friend, R and his wife K.
I've been lucky to get to know K over the past few years, and consider her a good friend.
They showed me all around Cardiff and introduced me to Pontcanna, which is my absolute new favorite part of town.
It's quaint while being near to the center of Cardiff. It's a little hippie, and a lot chic.
I could live in Pontcanna.

We stumbled upon a micro brewery ..in an alley. It was the first Saturday of the month, so there was live music, people hanging out... it was very Brooklyn-like.
Very fun.

It was nice to be in the city for the weekend x.

From the West Village to a Welsh Village...

For about the next 6 weeks or so, I will be posting from Wales, United Kingdom.
I am here, spending time with a handsome bloke called Alun.
We met in NYC nearly 4 years ago...(crazy, right?)

I am in the country...where the only sounds are from the TV, the cows and the neighbors barking dog. The cows are loud, especially in the evening. I kind of like the cows.
I am in the country...where you have to drive, everywhere. Spending the last few years in Manhattan ..and generally just liking to walk, this is an adjustment.

In the village, Llanpumsaint, there is a pub, a hair salon (which is NEVER open), and a small market. It is about 1.5 miles down the road...I've walked it several times. Its a lovely walk..green and hilly. I consider it part of my workout.

On the walk I see pigs, sheep, cows, horses...I've even seen a donkey! I now would like a pet donkey. He is very cute. Or she. I have a habit of making all animals 'hes.'

I arrived to Britain on Monday 2 August. I flew straight into London (first class, thanks Dad) ..and took the Heathrow Express train to the London Paddington Station and then jumped on the train to South Wales.
To Swansea, Wales it is about a 3 hour journey. But the train is relaxing and easy to enjoy.

I was welcomed to Swansea by Aluns Mom, Viv, and his youngest sister Megan.

Its been about 4 full days here...and I am settling in nicely.
More than anything I am relaxed, very very very relaxed.

I will continue posting each day starting Monday...and I will then add pictures to each post. The pictures will be delightful.

Have a good weekend xx.
